In my last essay I suggested that Zionists will soon stage the “end of days”. Today Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the same thing: “It is now a time to come together for one purpose, to storm ahead and achieve victory with joint forces in a profound belief in our justice, a profound belief in the eternity of the Jewish people, we shall realize the prophecy of Isaiah.”
Well then. Since I and Benny are almost in agreement, it might be a good time to recall exactly what the “prophecy” of Isaiah says. Isaiah says that the Jewish people in Israel were behaving wickedly and needed to be punished. Isaiah says the Jewish God, YHWH, will use his servant Nebuchadnezzar to utterly destroy the Jews and the Israelites and indeed all the nations of the Earth. Nebuchadnezzar will imprison the Jews in Babylon for 70 years. And then the final Messiah, the Emperor Cyrus, will defeat Babylon and restore the righteous remnant of Jews to Jerusalem.
So first of all, let’s note that this “prophecy” was extremely specific and was already fulfilled by the time the Jewish Bible was published. It is about specific historical events: the conquest of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar and the defeat of Nebuchadnezzar by Cyrus the Great, Emperor of Persia. So whether you believe that Isaiah was a psychic Jew or a lying plagiarist, his “prophecy” of the eternal Messiah still referred specifically to Cyrus. Not to an indefinite future king.
Second, let’s note that Isaiah’s “prophecy” demands the total destruction of Jerusalem and Israel. Then it demands the destruction of all the nations (i.e. the goyim). It calls for the total wasting of the Earth and the desolation of all things beautiful. It calls for the end of nature and all natural hierarchy. It promises a future in which the Jewish priesthood in Jerusalem presides over a destroyed human race. This is Zion.
Furthermore, let’s note that the prophecy of Isaiah says that YHWH himself will destroy the goyim and establish his Messiah. The Jewish people cannot accomplish the desolation of the Earth; instead they must suffer through it. In fact, ChatGPT once told me that it is anti Semitic to think that Jews are trying to conquer and rule the Earth as prophesied by Isaiah. Because that’s YHWH’s job.
I cannot emphasize enough that the very first Jewish Bible was written in Greek and published by the Library of Alexandria in 250 BCE. There’s a good reason that it shows a knowledge of real history, because it was plagiarized from real history. And the “prophecies” were indeed fulfilled by real history, by Nebuchadnezzar and by Cyrus, the Emperor of Persia. The Jewish Bible was published some 80 years after the Persian Empire was defeated by Alexander the Great.
The Christian “prophecies” of “judgment day” are in fact the same as Isaiah et al. Paul was the original inventor of Christianity, and his reliance on the book of Isaiah is perfectly explicit. Paul lived in the midst of the Jewish rebellion against the Roman Empire, a period during which the “prophecies” of Isaiah had evidently failed and the Jews were looking for a new anointed leader.
Those Jews expected a military conqueror as a Messiah - this is after all what Isaiah promises: a military, material triumph. And there were many human claimants to the role of Messiah during the Roman Jewish War. Yet Paul worked in a different direction, positing an invisible, nonsensical Messiah that would rule in heaven instead of on Earth. Paul’s remake of the Jewish prophecies is actually very pragmatic. After all, no authority on Earth can last forever. Only a new kind of authority with a new kind of domain can attain eternity.
But the Jews lost their war with Rome, and Jewish history, for what it’s worth, repeated itself. According to the Jewish historian Josephus, just as Nebuchadnezzar acted as an agent of divine justice when he destroyed Jerusalem in 587 BC, so too did Titus Flavius when he destroyed Jerusalem in 70 CE. Some time after the triumph of Titus, Christianity was born again, beginning with the Gospel of Mark. Mark and the other Gospels show Jesus Christ making predictions analogous to Isaiah’s, 40 years before Rome flattened the “second” temple. Mark was written to show that Rome, and not merely Heaven, fulfilled Isaiah.
Therefore Gospel Christianity partially reverses Paul’s innovation of moving Zion to Heaven. By passing the mantle of Christ from Jesus to his “second coming”, Titus Flavius, the conqueror of Jerusalem, the Gospels actually argue for the eternal rule of Rome over Jerusalem. But as we know, that didn’t work out either, and many Christians still expect their everlasting Earthly dominion.
Zionism hasn’t ever worked because it can’t ever work, because the Jewish Bible is a work of historical fantasy and its political aspirations (a chosen people, a nation of priests) have zero basis in reality. Nebuchadnezzar may have sacked Jerusalem long ago, but there is no evidence that he destroyed any “first” temple or that the Judahites even possessed the Jewish scriptures at that time. The Jewish scriptures did not appear until 300 years later, and they explicitly name Cyrus as the promised Messiah. Christian prophecies reiterate Isaiah, and Christians have no better basis to expect the “return” of their Messiah than the Jews have to expect the arrival of theirs.
Both religions are works of literature that were already fulfilled by history when they were published. Any maniac still expecting the realization of these “prophecies” - which, by the way, are totally horrible and inhuman - should be ridiculed and ignored. And if any such person happens to be a war criminal like Benjamin Netanyahu, they should be arrested, imprisoned, silenced, disarmed, tried, convicted and punished in accordance with international law.
Otherwise, Zionism will become the new international law. And the rights of man, the enlightenment, the human race itself will become lost in time, like tears in rain.
[Also, mazel tov to Bibi to for his impeccable timing. Today the U.S. House of Representatives elected a new leader who is a diehard Zionist and Evangelical Christian. He will surely facilitate the purchase of billions of dollars worth of doomsday weapons on behalf of his expired Semitic fan fiction.]
Speaking of prophesy, you called it: "Today the U.S. House of Representatives elected a new leader who is a diehard Zionist and Evangelical Christian. He will surely facilitate the purchase of billions of dollars worth of doomsday weapons on behalf of his expired Semitic fan fiction."
