The Atlantic Blows the Dog Whistle on Crimes Against Humanity
Begging for amnesty as the vaccines continue to sicken, maim and kill
The Atlantic has published an editorial by Emily Oster titled “Let’s Declare a Pandemic Amnesty”. Their subtitle says it all: “We need to forgive one another for what we did and said when we were in the dark about COVID.” But who exactly do they mean by “one another”? They can only really mean one thing: the two sides that have been arguing over the SARS2 virus since day one.
The first side in this argument is the rational, scientific, skeptical side. And the second side is the mass media, of which The Atlantic is a part. Now, those partial to mass media may also know the first side as a bunch of “conspiracy theorists” and “misinformation spreaders”. But this editorial is calling for both sides to forgive each other. Emily claims to be sorry that her 4 year old once yelled “SOCIAL DISTANCING” at another child. She’s sorry she wore a worthless mask at useless times and places. But mostly, she’s sorry because:
there is an emerging (if not universal) consensus that schools in the U.S. were closed for too long: The health risks of in-school spread were relatively low, whereas the costs to students’ well-being and educational progress were high. The latest figures on learning loss are alarming.

It is an extremely backhanded admission of guilt. Emily is still pimping the experimental COVID vaccines and calling out her skeptical opponents, of whom she says “obviously some people intended to mislead and made wildly irresponsible claims.” She differentiates herself and her ilk by saying “most errors were made by people who were working in earnest for the good of society”. But she’s lying. There was never any evidence to suggest that closing schools was a good idea. There was only military grade propaganda. So they closed schools anyway, and dragged it out for as long as possible, with many teachers begging for more.
I don’t think Emily goes far enough. Personally, I would like an apology for the mass media claim that SARS2 evolved naturally, when in fact its spike protein has 4 insertions from HIV including a furin cleavage site. I would like an apology for the constant speculation about a lab leak in Wuhan when the only documented breach of a top level biosafety laboratory in 2019 occurred on U.S. soil at Fort Detrick.
I would like an apology for the claim that COVID vaccines are “safe” when Pfizer only ran a blinded trial for 2 months, in which more people died who received the vaccine than those who received the placebo. I would like an apology for the incessant fearmongering about a virus with a fatality rate of 0.26% that only killed the most vulnerable individuals. Not to mention the economic and social shutdowns that were imposed under the threat of this fear.
I would also like an apology for the insane rollout of the COVID vaccines, in which my rational, skeptical, and scientific reservations were met with cries of “but you could win a million dollars” or get a free cheeseburger or a 40 ounce. The mass media should also be sorry for the way they swapped carrot with stick, claiming that those who did not get vaccinated threatened Grandma and little children in iron lungs.
THEY LIED every time they claimed the vaccines were effective at stopping transmission of the virus or shortening the pandemic or “returning to normal”. THEY HAD NO EVIDENCE. They condoned unconstitutional employment mandates for an experimental pharmaceutical nanotechnology.
Most of all, I would like an apology for the unending game of hot potato that the media has played in regard to the stunning surge in all cause mortality that has been correlated with the rollout of the COVID vaccines and with every subsequent booster. First they said “delayed care” was filling up the hospitals. Then they came up with “Post Pandemic Stress Disorder” to explain a rise in cardiac events. This morphed into “Sudden Adult Death Syndrome” which may be caused by, um, climate change. Not to mention their constant puzzling headlines about severe influenza, Monkeypox, RSV, shingles, cancer, et cetera.
Maybe they should just admit that HIV is in the spike protein of SARS2, and the spike protein of SARS2 is in the COVID vaccines?
Instead we get this not-pology:
The people who got it right, for whatever reason, may want to gloat. Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts. All of this gloating and defensiveness continues to gobble up a lot of social energy and to drive the culture wars, especially on the internet. These discussions are heated, unpleasant and, ultimately, unproductive. In the face of so much uncertainty, getting something right had a hefty element of luck. And, similarly, getting something wrong wasn’t a moral failing.
Jesus H Christ! People who got things right about SARS2 and the vaccines did so because they relied on scientific principles, NOT "a hefty element of luck”. And the people like Emily who got it wrong and continue to get it wrong do have a moral failing! They are repeating shameless propaganda on behalf of the federal military and calling it “Science” while waving their arms and claiming it changes all the time and scurrying after the narrative like rats. They’re either liars or the dupes of liars.
And if this is all they’re sorry for, they can go fuck themselves. They know they need amnesty. We do not.
love your writing, gt- this is one of your best.
emily wants us all to "put this behind us" because she says there's so much work to do, so many problems to solve... she wants us to look to the people (like her) to solve the problems they created. she still thinks they're the "experts" we need. it's really stunning, isn't it?
